USA Today-  Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s team of lawyers has hired four private investigation firms to dig up dirt on the NBA’s former and current commissioners and its 29 other owners, a person familiar with Sterling’s legal strategy told the Associated Press.

Investigators were given a six-figure budget over the next 30 days to examine the league’s finances, allegations of previous discriminatory conduct and compensation to past Commissioner David Stern and current Commissioner Adam Silver, said the person who spoke to The Associated Press on Thursday night on condition of anonymity. The person wasn’t authorized to talk publicly.

The person said the investigators also are looking into whether other owners made any off-color jokes, or racist or sexist remarks.

“The gloves are off, as they say,” the person said. “Have them dig up all the dirt they can find.”

First Sterling tried to clear the air on CNN (obviously didn’t work).  Then he went to an all-black church to mend some fences (probably didn’t work either).  Now here is his big power move.  You want to take away my team because I am a racist bigot?  Sure hope you don’t have any skeletons in those giant mansions of yours, NBA owners and Commissioners.  I guess this is why Mark Cuban was worried about just voting out Sterling without any real process.  And as much as I hate Sterling, I have to admit that I am completely intrigued by what he may find.

When it comes to crimes, they always say follow the money.  Considering the owners of NBA teams combine for a net worth of about a kajillion dollars, there are definitely some crazy things that have been swept under the rug.  And if not the actual owners, then a nitwit spouse, sibling, or child of theirs.  Murder, tax evasion, leaving less than 20% when tipping, cheating while playing Madden.  It’s all potentially on the table.  Despite the fact that I have lived a pretty clean life thus far, the thought of a private investigator going through the affairs of myself and my family is straight up terrifying.  Just pull the string and see what unravels.  Sterling, you are a diabolical genius.  Basically a super villain at this point.

This may get weird and ugly real quick.  Donald Sterling, the gift that keeps on giving to the blog world.
