When I closed my eyes, I could have sworn that Christopher Wallace was spitting hot fire again.  Nope, just a 70+ year old Cuban immigrant on a sparsely watched ESPN show.  However, I can’t lie, I was pretty disappointed when I realized Papi wasn’t going to rap any Bone Thugs lines.  I have listened to “Notorious Thugs” roughly 10,000 times and I still just grunt noises whenever the Bone Thugs parts come on.  Being disappointed that Dan Le Batard’s dad didn’t break down the lyrics to a timeless hip hop classic is #WhitePeopleProblems like you read about.

My apologies for not putting up the Old School Jam Of The Week during it’s typical Thursday afternoon time slot. To make up for that, I am going to hit you with perhaps the best summer jam of all time: Hypnotize by Biggie. You are welcome. RIP B.I.G.!

A couple of quick things about this video.  No one could pull off the “holding a cane” look better than Biggie. As pimp as the day is long.  Simple facts, people.  And while we are talking fashion, the outfits the girls wore in this video are wretched. Nothing like giving attractive video dancers dresses that have too much flow and knee pads. I wish I had more hands so I could give those dresses four thumbs down.

When this chick appeared in the video, you could have convinced me should would be anything.  The next Tyra Banks.  The next Julia Roberts.  The next Preisdent of the United States.  It was all on the table for her.  MTV’s version of Helen of Troy.

Graduation ceremony: Faith Evans shared a photo on Instagram at the high school graduation of her son Christopher Wallace Jr with the late rapper Notorious BIG

New York City rapper Notorious BIG, real name Christopher Wallace, was shot and killed in Los Angeles in March 1997 when his son was only five months old.

Their son, who also goes by Cee Jay, last year released a rap song with collaborator Jahad called School Knites.

His late rapper father, also known as Biggie Smalls, and R&B singer Faith married in August 1994 after meeting at a Bad Boy records photoshoot.

Wow, good for CJ.  Living the good life in sunny Californ-I-A.  It’s crazy to think that Biggie has been dead for 17 years already, let alone that his then-infant son is now a high school graduate.  Obviously having his father pass away when he was so young is terrible, but having the greatest MC of all time as your father is something to be extremely proud of.  If this doesn’t cause you to binge-listen to classic Biggie the rest of the day, nothing will.

PS- Thinking of a young version of Biggie brings back memories of one of the most underrated videos ever.

If you read this blog, you probably love life.  If you love life, you should love The Notorious B.I.G.  If you love The Notorious B.I.G., these videos were made for you.  A typical white, suburban family rapping some of Biggie’s best lyrics? F…YES!!!  Brian Williams performing Gin and Juice through a mashup is entertaining, but nothing touches Biggie and awkward white people.  Plus, some people may learn the lyrics to some classics while watching these videos.  God Bless The Internet!
